Kiss and Tango
Looking for Love in Buenos Aires

by Marina Palmer
ISBN: 0060742925

Book Description
Should you ever give up the fast track? Could you settle down with the spirit of adventure still in your blood? And just how do you say "Mr. Wrong" in Spanish anyway? Fueled by tango addiction, the hope of romancing a sultry porteño, and a one-way ticket to Buenos Aires, Marina Palmer is about to find out.

Approaching her dreaded thirtieth birthday -- without a doting husband, a fabulous apartment, or children and a nanny -- Marina Palmer suddenly found herself adrift in anxiety. She was a successful advertising executive but was bored by her job. Lasting love was proving elusive and her weekly visit to the therapist had multiplied by three. Then, on a whimsical vacation to South America, Palmer discovered the passion that her life was missing. At a steamy two a.m. milonga, she caught her first glimpse of Argentina's signature dance and fell head over heels from the sidelines.

Leaving behind her fast-track career and her desperation to meet "the One," Palmer returned to Buenos Aires to pursue a new dream. Moving thousands of miles from friends and family, she arrived in Argentina seeking a dancing partner, storybook love, and the tango lessons that might ultimately help her earn a place on the professional circuit. Exploring her new city by day and seducing sexy Argentines on the dance floor by night, her tango obsession ruled her life. She'd never been thinner -- tango is the world's most erotic weight-loss plan! -- more confident, or closer to her definition of having it all.

From auditioning for the Broadway hit Forever Tango, to becoming a street dancer on the infamous calle Florida, to discovering just how irresistible the sizzling porteños can be, Marina Palmer chronicles her exhilarating misadventures in Buenos Aires in no-holds-barred diary-style confessions full of adventure, romance, heartbreak, and steamy sex.

Inspiring, outrageous, and bursting with passion, Kiss & Tango is the ideal book for anyone secretly daydreaming of taking their own gamble of a lifetime.

--Rosemary (Laguna Hills, CA)

"This is a great book especially for anyone who ever wanted to follow a dream. I couldn't wait from page to page to see what she was going to do next. You never know what path you will be shown -- read this book and get inspired and enjoy the adventure."
--Dana (Murfreesboro, TN)

"Perhaps this is not the book for one going through any sort of mid-life crisis. It has a startling ability to make the reader actually consider the idea of 'following your bliss'. The book had it all, humor, purpose, an adult story-line, thought-provoking situations and a satisfying conclusion."
--Ellen (Marietta, GA)

"I absolutely love this book! It combines traveling, dance, quirky insights, passion, friendship, and romance. Honestly, I didn't want it to end. I felt like I just went on an adventure to Buenos Aires, and tangoed my life away -- woohoo! What a fantastic book!"
--Joanne (San Francisco, CA)

"Anyone who has ever been bitten by the dance bug (for any form of dance) will relate to the author's first euphoric reactions to the tango when she sees the authentic thing in an Argentinean nightclub for the first time."
--Vicki (Lexington, KY)

"This is inspiring book made me want to get up and dance!"
--Emily (Denver, CO)

"Bridget Jones meets Carrie Bradshaw in this wonderful true life adventure! I can relate to her dating mis-adventures as a single 30 year old -- always going back for more. I found myself laughing out loud at the true insights that she eloquently puts into words about dating, men, parents and friends -- I have had these thoughts! This is a great read."
--Jennifer (Baton Rouge, LA)

"Marina Palmer writes with a style that leaves the reader feeling as if they have just returned from a trip to Buenos Aires and lures you to fall in love with the dance. I highly recommend this book to all."
--Fran (Freehold, NJ)

"Did you ever go on holiday and not want to come back? That's just what Marina Palmer did -- she did come back, only to quit her job and move to Buenos Aires to pursue her new-found love for Tango. This memoir was really inspiring. It wasn't an ideal fairy tale, Ms Palmer didn't gloss over anything -- yet it still made me sit back and try to pinpoint the one thing that gave me a sense of passion. And THAT is what this book is about. It's about a woman who finds her passion and, fear aside, GOES FOR IT."
--Mary (Fort Collins, CO)

"I loved this book! Funny, absorbing and well written."
--Erin (Fairfax, VA)

"Where do I sign up for tango lessons? This book was a great book to live vicariously through."
--Andrea (Norwalk, IA)

"Reading this book made me realize I'm never too old to realize my dreams and sometimes that it's good to be unconventional. Now I need to find the closest place to sign up for tango lessons!"
--Carrie (Springfield, IL)

"Set up like a diary, most of Palmer's book feels like you're talking with a good friend instead of reading. From personal revolution to a country's revolution, Palmer's book will keep women turning pages."
--Penny (Elgin, IL)

"I hated to see this book end. Marina Palmer is very articulate and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about her TANGO escapades. You really saw how Ms. Palmer grew as a person throughout this experience."
--Maryellen (Houston, TX)

"If you like Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives, you'll enjoy Marina Palmer's Kiss and Tango about one woman's desperate search for love, sex, and the perfect tango partner. Buenos Aires provides a vibrant stage for the colorful cast of characters devoted to the passionate dance of tango. Anyone who has longed to quit his or her 9 to 5 desk job to follow their dreams and desires will be amused by Ms. Palmer's tell-all tale about what it takes to tango."
--Zahara (New York, NY)

"Kiss and Tango is unique in the "chick-lit" genre as it is a memoir -- something rarely found on the chick-lit shelves. Her narrative is exceptional -- you literally feel as though you're on the streets of Buenos Aires with her (and in a milonga doing the tango!)."
--Amy (San Francisco, CA)

"Marina Palmer pours all the love and passion of tango onto the page so that the reader can't help but be swept up into her world. You can feel the hot Argentine breezes, feel the throbbing music, smell the sweat and smoke of the dance clubs..."

Marina Palmer

Marina Palmer was born in New York City to an American father and a Greek mother, and was raised in England, where she attended the Lycee Francais and Cambridge University. If you ask her why, she'll say she hasn't the foggiest. After graduating from college she spent three years with the French Embassy in Bulgaria followed by Hungary with her boyfriend at the time. When the relationship ended, she moved to New York. There she spent five years working in advertising. She didn't like it very much. In January 1997, she went to visit her cousins in Buenos Aires. It was here that she discovered the tango. It is here that her story begins. It is here that she lives today.
